Shannon River Fund Management Reveals Increase In Its Holding Of PDF Solutions, Inc. (PDFS)

Shannon River Fund Management and its manager, Spencer M. Waxman, have stepped up their interest in PDF Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ:PDFS) through the acquisition of approximately 266,500 shares, according to a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. This move has taken the fund’s holding to 1.69 million shares which account for 5.55% of the total number of shares outstanding.

PDF Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ:PDFS) has also attracted the attention of Robert B. Gillam, the manager of Mckinley Capital Management, who has doubled his fund’s stake to approximately 179,700 shares, reportedly worth $4.6 million. Jim Simons has, on the other hand, decided to limit exposure and has slightly trimmed his fund’s stake in the company. In its latest 13F filing, Renaissance Technologies reported ownership of 204,900 shares worth $5.25 million.

A provider of infrastructure technologies and services, PDF Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ:PDFS) has a market cap of $530 million and does not pay a dividend. The stock is traded at a trailing Price to Earnings (P/E) ratio of 25.xx, which is significantly lower than the industry average of 31.70. So far this year, the stock has slumped by 31% to a current price of $17.37 per share. The company reported revenues of $27 million for the 2013 fourth quarter and earnings per share (EPS) of $0.22. 2014 first quarter is expected to bring revenues of $26.5 million and EPS of $0.29. The stock is touted as a Buy.

Waxman is betting big on Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), having increased his fund’s stake by 150% during the last quarter of 2013, taking it to 1.1 million shares valued at $60.6 million, according to the fund’s latest 13F report. Shannon River has also reported an increase in the holding of its largest position, American Tower Corp (NYSE:AMT), to 822,000 shares valued at $65.6 million. A notable new addition to Shannon River’s equity portfolio is Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ:BRCM), with Waxman acquiring 1.83 million shares reportedly worth $54.2 million.
