RTX Corporation (RTX) Awarded $1.1 Billion Navy Contract For Short-Range Missiles

RTX Corporation (NYSE:RTX)’s defense arm, Raytheon, has secured a $1.1 billion contract from the U.S. Navy to produce the short-range AIM-9X Block II missiles, the company announced on Wednesday.

This is the largest contract awarded for the program and will help in ramping up production to 2,500 missiles per year. The AIM-9X, which is a Navy-led joint program with the U.S. Air Force, is used by over 30 American allies and partners.

Barbara Borgonovi, President of Naval Power at RTX Corporation (NYSE:RTX)’s Raytheon business unit, stated the following on the award:

“This award represents a historic milestone for the AIM-9X program, further emphasizing its importance to the U.S. and partnered nations. Through our partnership with the U.S. Navy, we are well-positioned to support this increased demand.”

Demand for missiles has surged over the last few years and is expected to increase further ahead due to a rise in geopolitical tensions across the world.

In other news, the U.S. Navy awarded Raytheon a $536 million contract for the SPY-6 family of radars, RTX Corporation (NYSE:RTX) announced on Tuesday.

Its shares have surged nearly 20% year-to-date on the back of notable high-value contract awards in 2025.
