Raymond James Maintains Outperform Rating on J.B. Hunt (JBHT), Keeps PT

Raymond James analyst Patrick Tyler Brown reiterated his Outperform rating and $155 price target for J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. (NASDAQ:JBHT) on May 30. Brown highlighted the change in the company’s long-term incentive structure and praised its strategic focus on return on invested capital (ROIC).

The analyst commended J.B. Hunt for focusing on returns and streamlining its incentive program. He pointed out that since 2020, the company’s long-term incentives have progressively incorporated the practice of managing with ROIC targets in mind. In place of the earlier mix of operating income, EBITDA, and ROIC, J.B. Hunt now prioritizes ROIC.

According to Brown, J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. (NASDAQ:JBHT) continually employs a calculated approach to capital allocation, particularly in recessionary times. The company has significantly boosted its capital base, as demonstrated by its objective to raise container counts by 40% from 2022 levels by 2027.
