In the past, the Newspaper In Education program was forced to rely heavily on print subscriptions with some digital content mixed in. With the cost of paper, ink, and distribution on the rise, the program was looking for new ways to go digital.

Saurer believes that relying on the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad will take some of the pressure off of the schools, being that most have a limited number of computers:

“In the past, we have had to rely on the limited number of desktops or laptops available in schools. Computers are often not available for social sciences classes, or for other work where students would benefit by being able to do their own online research.
