Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) Speaks, Shows it is Listening to Customers

We have talked a lot as of late about the upcoming release of the Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One. For one of our most interesting pieces, as well as one that is sure to open your eyes, visit this page. While many are hoping for big things out of the new gaming console when it is released in November, some are not nearly as excited.

Microsoft Corporation (MSFT)To understand exactly how some people feel, we don’t have to look any further than this page on Change.org. In short, there are people out there who don’t feel that Microsoft is giving its audience what the company promised early on.

Here is what the petition on Change.org says:

“This was to be the future of entertainment. A new wave of gaming where you could buy games digitally, then trade, share or sell those digital licenses. Essentially, it was Steam for Xbox. But consumers were uninformed, and railed against it, and it was taken away because Sony took advantage of consumers uncertainty.

We want this back. It can’t be all or nothing, there must be a compromise.”

While some companies would run and hide from criticism like this, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has stepped up to the table and is willing to talk about what has gone wrong as well as what the company is hoping to change down the road.

More specifically, Xbox One chief product officer Marc Whitten has came out and discussed the concern of fans and what has gone wrong to this point. Here is just a small sampling of what he had to say in a recent discussion with IGN.

“The number one thing I want to do is I want to get the product out, because people are going to use it and obviously a lot of this is more evident, but certainly what I want to do right is now is talk more about how we thought about these features. How we thought about how Xbox Live works, how digital works. I see people feeling like we’ve moved away from digital, when certainly I don’t believe that’s the case. I believe we’ve added on choice for people. It was an addition of a feature onto Xbox One, not a removal of a feature. And I understand people see things like Family Sharing and they’re like, ‘Wow, I was really looking forward to that,’ which is more of an engineering reality time frame type-thing.”

If nothing else, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has to be commended for doing its part in explaining where the company stands.

It will be interesting to see how well the Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) performs early on, and if any of the criticism up to this point holds it back.
