Microsoft Corporation (MSFT): Did You See What Bill Gates Just Said?

When it comes to Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), it is hard to think about the company without an image of founder Bill Gates popping into your head. We keep close tabs on Gates, and are already bringing you fresh stories about what he has been up to (including this interesting piece).

Bill GatesThis time around, we are going to take a closer look at what Gates had to say during his key note from Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Research Faculty Summit 2013.

On Monday, he returned to the Redmond campus to speak at the company’s Research Faculty Summit. As you can imagine, the appearance by Gates went a long way in catching the ear of everybody in the audience. After all, if you have the chance to hear Bill Gates speak in person it is not something you want to pass by.

While Gates talked about quite a bit, including Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), he also went on to discuss how people should think about helping the poor people of the world. He is what he had to say about this:

“Progress for the 2 billion most in need is really dependent on the rich computer science and software-driven advances you work on. The opportunities are quite phenomenal, particularly as commercial companies like Microsoft work with you to take your great work and put it into products that can help millions of people.”

It is always nice to see Gates speaking about more than making money. We all know that he is interested in helping others through his wealth, and he always backs up his words with actions.

When asked by an audience member why others with an extreme amount of wealth have not lived up to his standards, Gates stepped in and added the following:

“They have, Gates said. His friend Warren Buffet provides a large chunk of Gates Foundation’s operating budget, for example. And about 100 billionaires have signed the foundation’s “giving pledge,” promising to give away most of their wealth.”

Bill Gates is one of the top business minds in the world, as well as somebody who is doing his part in giving back. He is responsible for building Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) into what we see today, and is sure to be doing big things well into the future.
