Mario Gabelli, GAMCO Investors’ Latest Moves Involve Communications Systems, Inc. (JCS), Lawson Products, Inc. (LAWS) & More

Mario Gabelli and GAMCO Investors have revealed during the last week several moves involving companies such as Communications Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:JCS), Lawson Products, Inc. (NASDAQ:LAWS), Stewart Enterprises, Inc. (NASDAQ:STEI), and Belo Corp (NYSE:BLC).

In Communications Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:JCS), GAMCO revealed owning a total of 330,172 shares, versus 308,393 shares reported in its latest 13F. Other funds managed by Mario Gabelli, Gabelli Funds, and Teton Advisors hold 165,071 shares, and 116,660 shares of the company respectively. Overall, the funds and Mr. Gabelli own 620,903 shares of Communications Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:JCS), the stake is amassing 7.3% of the common stock.

GAMCO also disclosed holding 217,348 shares of Lawson Products, Inc. (NASDAQ:LAWS), the stake raising from 176,148 shares held at the end of September. The total holding owned by Gabelli-managed funds amounts to 464,322 shares, which represent 5.4% of Lawson Products, Inc. (NASDAQ:LAWS)’s common stock.

In a separate filing, GAMCO, and its affiliated funds reported closing their holding in Stewart Enterprises, Inc. (NASDAQ:STEI), due to the company’s acquisition by Service Corporation International (NYSE:SCI). GAMCO, in its latest 13F disclosed owning almost 2.0 million shares of Stewart Enterprises, Inc. (NASDAQ:STEI).

Another company, in which GAMCO revealed selling out its stake is Belo Corp (NYSE:BLC). The fund has raised its position in the company twice during this quarter. At the beginning of December, GAMCO, together with other funds managed by Mario Gabelli, owned 6.3 million shares of Belo Corp (NYSE:BLC), which represented 6.55% of outstanding common stock.

Belo Corp (NYSE:BLC) was recently acquired by Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE:GCI), which, as announced earlier offered to pay $13.75 per share, the deal being approved by stockholders in September.

Earlier, GAMCO also raised significantly its stake in The Marcus Corporation (NYSE:MCS), the funds currently owning in aggregate around 2.1 million shares, equal to 11.75% of the company’s common stock.
