Lucid Expands US Supply Chain with Multi-Year Graphite Deal

On June 4, Lucid Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:LCID) announced a new multi-year supply agreement with Graphite One, reinforcing its commitment to building a domestic supply chain for critical battery materials. The deal ensures a future pipeline of American-sourced natural graphite, a key component in lithium-ion battery anodes, and supports Lucid’s broader strategy to localize raw material sourcing.

The graphite will come from Graphite One’s Graphite Creek deposit in Alaska, with production expected to begin in 2028. This latest contract adds to an earlier agreement between the companies for synthetic graphite, which will be produced at Graphite One’s upcoming facility in Warren, Ohio. That earlier deal marked the first-ever synthetic graphite supply partnership between a U.S. graphite developer and an American EV manufacturer.

“These agreements are foundational to our goal of reducing reliance on foreign materials while enhancing the sustainability and performance of our battery systems,” said Marc Winterhoff, Interim CEO at Lucid.

Winterhoff emphasized that domestic sourcing helps improve supply chain resilience and reduces the environmental footprint of manufacturing. Lucid Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:LCID) is also working with Syrah Resources, which will begin supplying natural graphite from its Louisiana facility starting in 2026 under a separate three-year agreement. These partnerships are vital as graphite remains an essential material for fast-charging EV batteries.

With this multi-pronged approach, Lucid is aiming to secure long-term access to key inputs and advance its mission to support American manufacturing while positioning itself as a leader in EV innovation with fully localized battery components.
