John Griffin Takes His Level 3 Communications Investment to Another Level

John Griffin’s Blue Ridge Capital had 18 Million shares of Level 3 (LVLT) at the end of March. Since then Griffin bought another 80 Million shares, bringing his total investment close to $200 Million. During the first quarter Griffin bought 10 Million shares. He probably started accumulating these shares towards the end of the quarter. When he started accumulating these shares, LVLT was trading below $1.50, today it is trading at $2.

LVLT’s biggest investor is Mason Hawkins’ Southeastern Asset Management. Hawkins has more than $1 Billion in LVLT. (See other hedge funds that are in LVLT here.)
