Jim Cramer Says AI Data Centers Have Potential & Discusses These 9 Stocks

In this piece, we will look at the stocks Jim Cramer recently discussed.

In a recent appearance on CNBC’s Squawk on the Street, Jim Cramer commented on the recent upward movement in the share price of Elon Musk’s car company. Speculating on whether the recent calmness exuded by the Trump administration could mean that markets go back to Liberation Day close, he outlined:

“I think we can because we’ve got Bessent throwing around a little fuel. . .and I really feel that the, let’s use [Elon Musk’s car company] as a good example. Like [the company], you knew the moment he was on the call and saying listen I’m gonna really get out of dodge [DOGE] suddenly you realize. . .that it’s like, okay this could be up 30.”

The CNBC host also commented on the recent sentiment among traders that we might be in a bear market rally. Cramer was aware of these thoughts as he shared:

“But I would say that when I listened to everybody yesterday, all the different traders, ‘bear market rally, bear market rally.’ The bear market’s going to rip their face off. If you see a grizzly in the Yellowstone National Park, you’re supposed to call.”

When co-host Carl Quintanilla remarked that a major investment bank was saying markets could go higher with a short squeeze possible, Cramer replied: “Look I that we have a lot of situations today, they’re going the way of the market but they’re not going too thick.”

One key theme in the show was the AI data center industry. This sector has lost its luster since January’s DeepSeek selloff, yet, Cramer’s adamant that investors are wrong. When asked about his current thoughts about data center stocks, he remarked:

“I’m saying it’s mixed. I’m saying it’s too mixed. It’s too mixed. It’s not unbelievably great like it was. . .it’s mixed. So now it’s like well you know what, I think I could buy [Jensen Huang’s AI company] off that. I think I can buy Cummins off that. But no one’s going in and saying you know what I need to buy these. No one feels like they need to have them anymore. And that’s. . .a shame because it’s very difficult to mount the kind of rally you need.”

Further lamenting the downfall of data center stocks, Cramer said:

“I just feel like what’s, it was like the greatest story ever told. The data center. And, we had, we had the natural gas to power them . . .everything that was in the data center was golden and you just had this thesis. And the thesis came unglued during this period. It’s a little Humpty-Dumpty like.”

Cramer also shared his thoughts regarding stocks not coming off of their opening high as markets started to trade. He said:

“No, it’s interesting you get a change of tone. You know that there’s in the White Hosue, a very hard liner. Howard Lutnick a little bit less hardline. And you don’t hear from them. And I know that this is one of those situations where it’s fluid, you might hear from them tomorrow. But, this is the view of the non-Navarro storyline.”

Our Methodology

To make our list of the stocks that Jim Cramer talked about, we listed down the stocks he mentioned during CNBC’s Squawk on the Street aired on April 23rd.

Its shares have lost 11% year to date but have trimmed back the losses through a 22% gain in April after its latest earnings. The results saw ServiceNow, Inc. (NYSE:NOW)’s $3.09 billion in quarterly revenue beat analyst estimates of $3.08 billion. The firm also raised its full-year guidance to $12.640 billion and $12.680 billion from an earlier $12.635 billion and $12.675 billion. Here’s what Cramer said:

“Look I know you follow ServiceNow very closely. And it’s up 50 points, okay. Well I mean this is, frankly, the enterprise software which has been where the, that’s been the gut of what has been bad.”

“Well we should play what Marc Benioff was saying, he got Finnish Air just now. He got Booking’s. Booking’s the largest travel agent. You’re going to get, you’re not going to get a human, you’re going to get someone who knows more. That’s what I’ve been waiting more. And by the way, Elon Musk hinted something that Marc is going to introduce in the spring. Which is he wants to put it in the stack, in the information technology stack, of the federal government to save money. Now we know by the way, ServiceNow’s in there too so I’ve got Will McDermont. . .”

8. GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE:GEV)

Number of Hedge Fund Holders In Q4 2024: 111

GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE:GEV) is a General Electric spinoff that deals with energy generation products. Before the current souring of investor sentiment surrounding data center stocks, Cramer commented on multiple occasions that it was the only nuclear power play worth investing in. This time around, he remarked that GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE:GEV)’s order book indicates that the data center industry is still going strong:

“I have . .GE Vernova and I’ve got Vertiv on tonight. . the CEOs. And I just want to say that there’s been a lot of what I regard as misinformation about the data centers slowing. And both, when you read the Vertiv notes, like forget it, the business is on fire. When you speak to Scott, Scott Strazik who’s the CEO of GE Vernova, he would tell you that the hyperscalers like to play. Like they put some here, they wanna put there, and they talk about doing this, talk about that. But in the end the orders are up and that anyone who thinks that the hyperscalers are scaling back, frankly, is just, not telling the truth.”

“What Scott is saying for GE Vernova is that’s the game they’re playing. They’re just trying to build it here, they’re trying to build it there. They’re not gonna let each other know. It’s just a little bit more secretive but I’m the keeper of the order book and the order book is [inaudible]. So those who are trying to get those down . . .they gotta rethink their game. They gotta rethink. It’s all I’m saying.”

7. Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA)

Number of Hedge Fund Holders In Q4 2024: 126

Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) is Elon Musk’s car company which has been one of the most turbulent stocks in 2025. Its shares bottomed for the year in early April as they bled 41.5% due to falling deliveries and Musk’s politics. Since then, Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA)’s stock has gained 17% particularly after Musk shared during the latest earnings call that he will reduce his government activities. Here’s what Cramer said:

“It was a changeover quarter.”

“They’re talking about having a million robots. They’re talking about having much better than Waymo in Austin.”

“What I took away from this is that the reason why you had that really bad quarter if you wanna be simplistic about it, is he’s not been focused and they had this changeover and now he’s back. And the magic is back. So, you can have all these hedge fund managers, all the mutual fund managers who love him, they’ll just sit there and take the stock which is up 17 right now, they’ll take it up to 275 over the next couple of days. Because they love him so much. And he is, he’s not a pied piper, he’s a serious guy.”

“Yes he has. . .I think memories are short. I think they’ll have new models. I think he talked very positively about China. He does have a tariff problem.”

“[On rare earth metal constraints due to Chinese ban] They need a break there. They need some sort of deal. Maybe that’s something that would come up. David, I want to go back to this Waymo issue versus . . I mean he just says, look, Waymo is very expensive. It’s not really their own car. Uh, you’re going to see, in Austin, you’re going to see an explosion of Teslas. I think that’s the next big thing that gets to these managers all juiced and says I gotta buy this thing.”

6. Salesforce, Inc. (NYSE:CRM)

Number of Hedge Fund Holders In Q4 2024: 162

Salesforce, Inc. (NYSE:CRM) is an enterprise software company that enables businesses to manage their customer relations. It’s one of Cramer’s most widely discussed stocks, with the TV show host praising CEO Marc Benioff and Salesforce, Inc. (NYSE:CRM)’s AI platforms and their edge over Microsoft’s CoPilot. He continued with the themes this time around and shared additional details:

“Well we should play what Marc Benioff was saying, he got Finnish Air just now. He got Booking’s. Booking’s the largest travel agent. You’re going to get, you’re not going to get a human, you’re going to get someone who knows more. That’s what I’ve been waiting more. And by the way, Elon Musk hinted something that Marc is going to introduce in the spring. Which is he wants to put it in the stack, in the information technology stack, of the federal government to save money. Now we know by the way, ServiceNow’s in there too so I’ve got Will McDermont. . .”

“If they got inside Medicare, if they got inside Social Security, and you didn’t deal with a human, because they fired, how many people they have already fired. Didn’t deal with a human. Well that’s how the government can really save a lot of money.”

5. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)

Number of Hedge Fund Holders In Q4 2024: 166

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is the mega technology giant that has been facing one trouble after another in 2025. Its shares have struggled due to concerns about weakening iPhone demand, delays in AI software rollout, and more recently, the impact of tariffs on China on its US product prices. While markets are rife with rumors of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) shifting its US iPhone production out of China, Cramer commented on the firm’s upcoming earnings:

“Apple, we think that they’re going to miss the quarter. We have three notes saying today, listen, it’s a possibility they make the quarter.”

4. Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL)

Number of Hedge Fund Holders In Q4 2024: 234

Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has been one of the most troubled mega-cap stocks this year. The firm’s shares have struggled due to weak growth with its cloud business and its trouble with the Justice Department. In his previous remarks about Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL), Cramer has struggled to find any catalysts for the stock. The firm’s latest earnings report sent its shares slightly up by 3.6% in premarket trading after ad business revenue beat estimates and it assured investors that AI investments were paying off. Here’s what Cramer said ahead of the earnings:

“Look I am trying to describe a situation that where you could have these stocks where people were shorting the other day. And today they’re just being gaffed because there’s a little story crafted for every one of them except for Alphabet. I don’t have one crafted for Alphabet.”

3. Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ:META)

Number of Hedge Fund Holders In Q4 2024: 262

Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ:META) is the parent entity of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The firm’s shares are down by 11% year-to-date but rose by 2% in premarket trading as peer Alphabet’s advertising revenue beat analyst estimates. Here are his latest thoughts:

“Meta. We know that Meta had this fine, people seem to care about. A lot of people talking about how Meta’s losing because of Chinese ads. Well forget that. Nobody seems to care about it today.”

2. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)

Number of Hedge Fund Holders In Q4 2024: 317

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is the software giant whose stock has lagged since last year due to investor perceptions about AI. The stock is down by 7.5% year-to-date but it benefited during the tariff selloff due to Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s low exposure to China. Previously, Cramer has advised the company to ‘get its act together’ as he believes it is falling behind in the AI race. Here are his latest thoughts about Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT):

“[On MSFT cutting back] No I told you that they’re jamming their CapEx. I believe on OpenAI, that’s what I was saying.”

“[On OpenAI and MSFT not being the same company] No I know, but if you talk to CoreWeave I think you get a sense that wait a second. . . I’m just saying that if you listen to Microsoft you think you know what, there’s too many data centers to be built.”

1. Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)

Number of Hedge Fund Holders In Q4 2024: 339

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is the largest eCommerce company in the world and a key player in the cloud computing industry. Recently, tariffs have created doubts about the eCommerce business in investors’ minds, but Cramer has speculated that perhaps Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) will be able to perform well as it can sell staples at low costs to match mega-retailers like Walmart. Here are his latest comments:

“Amazon, the other day, I was reading a downgrade by Ray Jay. Well you know what the downgrade got a lot of people out of it.”

AMZN is a stock Jim Cramer recently discussed. While we acknowledge the potential of AMZN as an investment, our conviction lies in the belief that some AI stocks hold greater promise for delivering higher returns and doing so within a shorter time frame. There is an AI stock that went up since the beginning of 2025, while popular AI stocks lost around 25%. If you are looking for an AI stock that is more promising than AMZN but that trades at less than 5 times its earnings, check out our report about this cheapest AI stock.
