On CNBC’s Mad Money episode aired on September 11, Jim Cramer highlighted Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) ahead of its upcoming analyst meeting and investor day. He stated:
Thursday, we have two important analyst meetings… As for Intuit, the company behind TurboTax and QuickBooks, it gets a bum rep because everyone believes it will be disrupted by AI. I think the days when we can rumor down stocks on the thought of disruption with AI are over. Just witness the rebounds in ServiceNow and Salesforce. And by the way, you know what I think is going to happen with Adobe? I’m betting that Intuit, after this investor day, could have that same kind of move.
Revenue Breakdown and Strategic Catalysts
Intuit Inc. delivered strong financial performance for fiscal year 2026, generating full-year revenue of $21.4 billion, which represented a 14% increase year-over-year. For the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, total revenue expanded by 14% to $4.35 billion, beating the roughly $4.28 billion consensus estimate.
The Global Business Solutions division was a core contributor, reporting quarterly revenues of $3.4 billion, up 14% compared to the prior-year period. Within that segment, the Online Ecosystem delivered a 17% revenue surge to $2.6 billion, while QuickBooks Online Accounting revenue expanded 20% on the back of strategic pricing adjustments, new customer acquisition, and a favorable product mix shift. Consumer segment revenue also posted gains, rising 14% to $930 million for the quarter, supported by a 16% growth rate in Credit Karma to $743 million. Full-year non-GAAP operating income increased 18% to $8.9 billion, yielding a non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of $24.27, up 20% year-over-year.
Execution Risks and Headwinds
Despite strong profitability, Intuit Inc. faces notable macro and operational headwinds, including ongoing market debate surrounding the long-term impact of generative AI tools on core accounting and tax software workflows. On a GAAP basis, fourth-quarter diluted earnings per share slipped by a cent year-over-year to $1.34, weighed down by higher tax provisions and a $293 million restructuring charge recorded during the period.
Moreover, management expects growth in the Consumer segment to moderate into fiscal 2027, issuing revenue guidance for that division in the range of 4% to 6%. The company is also managing operational shifts associated with reporting Mailchimp as a separate reportable segment starting in fiscal 2027 as Mailchimp’s revenue growth has moderately lagged the broader Online Ecosystem, expanding at a slower rate than core QuickBooks accounting lines.
Hedge Fund Ownership and Short Interest Alignment
Institutional interest in Intuit Inc. picked up during the second quarter of 2026, with 98 hedge funds tracked by Insider Monkey holding long positions, up from 92 funds in the preceding quarter. Among those hedge funds, Arrowstreet Capital held the largest stake with nearly 4.47 million shares. It is worth noting that D E Shaw increased its position in the company by a massive 11811%. On the short side, short interest currently accounts for 3.42% of the company’s total float, indicating low short-seller conviction.
While narrative concerns over AI disruption have created short-term valuation friction, Intuit’s double-digit top-line growth, disciplined share repurchases, and expanding ecosystem suggest the sell-off may be overdone. If management demonstrates AI integration as an operational growth catalyst during its investor day, the stock could follow peer software recoveries toward higher valuation multiples.
