Is RIVN a good stock to buy? We came across a bullish thesis on Rivian Automotive, Inc. on VJS Newsletter’s Substack. In this article, we will summarize the bulls’ thesis on RIVN. Rivian Automotive, Inc.’s share was trading at $16.54 as of March 10th.

Rivian Automotive, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, develops, manufactures, and sells category-defining electric vehicles. RIVN is positioned for a transformative growth phase, currently trading around $15 per share with an $18 billion market capitalization, well below legacy automakers like Ford at $55 billion.
The company is executing on the future of mobility: electric, autonomous, and software-defined vehicles, carving out a clear second-place position behind Tesla. Rivian’s upcoming R2 model represents a “Model 3 moment,” dropping entry prices from $70,000+ to ~$45,000, unlocking a vastly larger total addressable market and addressing previous demand bottlenecks.
Management forecasts 62,000 to 67,000 deliveries in 2026, driven primarily by the R2 rollout, which is expected to drive back-half weighted sales. Rivian’s moat lies in its vertical integration and software ecosystem, including its in-house Rivian Autonomy Processor and subscription-based Autonomy Plus, creating recurring high-margin revenue streams. Strategic partnerships, notably the Volkswagen joint venture, have already generated $1.5 billion in software and services revenue, up 222% year-over-year.
The commercial vehicle segment is quietly thriving, with Amazon operating over 30,000 Rivian vans and AT&T joining as a customer, highlighting the company’s cost advantage over internal combustion alternatives. Despite short-term cash burn projected at $4 billion in 2026, Rivian has over $8 billion in available capital, providing runway for execution.
Customer satisfaction remains high, operational efficiencies are improving, and the company is building proprietary charging infrastructure. With these catalysts, Rivian is set to capture market share in both consumer and commercial EV segments, positioning the stock for significant upside, potentially achieving a 2x to 3x return as it scales the R2 and monetizes its software and service platforms.
