L1 Capital, in its Q3 2021 investor letter, mentioned Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE: BABA) and discussed its stance on the firm. Alibaba Group Holding Limited is a Hangzhou, China-based e-commerce company with a $456.6 billion market capitalization. BABA delivered a -27.62% return since the beginning of the year, while its 12-month returns are down by -34.41%. The stock closed at $166.54 per share on November 15, 2021.

“Even though they are not majority State owned and we would expect many of China’s technology champions to continue to grow strongly, outcomes for shareholders may be unsatisfactory. We sold the Fund’s investment in Alibaba in early July 2021 at a small gain and no longer have any investments in businesses which predominantly operate in China.”
