Here is something to keep in mind: in May 2012, the Apple iPad had 95 percent of the market. Now, this number has fallen to 81 percent.

In second place right now is the Amazon Kindle Fire at 7.7 percent.

Amazon is still a long way away, but it is important to note that the company’s tablet is gaining ground. Additionally, they are taking fire at the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad as often as possible.

Most recently, Amazon released a television commercial comparing its Kindle Fire to the iPad. Long story short, the commercial touches on the fact that both tablets have the same features. In the end, however, it shows that the Kindle Fire price is $299 while a similarly equipped iPad is $499.
