Intel holds the key to a successful $200 PC: IHS (ZDNet)
Can PC OEMs put together an ultrathin, touch-screen PC that will both appeal to consumers and come in at just $200? Analysts believe so, but chipmaker Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) holds the key to success. And that key is almost older than dirt – cut prices. “A price point that low seems far-fetched considering the mobile PC prices of today, with Ultrabooks and other ultrathins going as high as $1,000 or more,” said Craig Stice, senior principal analyst for compute platforms at IHS. “However, the small laptops known as netbooks saw their prices reach down into the $200 range at the height of their popularity a few years ago, and a cost analysis of netbooks shows how such a low level of pricing can be used to support a no-frills type of ultrathin PC.”

Lenovo unveils Intel-powered flagship smartphone (Mobile World Live)
Lenovo, a Chinese PC and mobile device maker, launched its Intel-powered K900 flagship smartphone in its home market. K900 will be rolled out in additional international markets throughout the summer, said the firm. Billed by Lenovo as the first smartphone in the world to house the latest Atom processor Z2580 processor from Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) – a dual core chip – K900 runs at speeds up to 2GHz. The new smartphone also boasts an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator, reportedly tripling the graphics performance over the previous generation. Lenovo adds that the “top-of-the-line” device is one of the first smartphones in the world to combine a 5.5 inch IPS display with 1080p full high-definition resolution, at more than 400 pixels-per-inch.
