Letter: Reform Needed to Stop Lawmaker Insider Trading (The Buffalo News)
The recent Buffalo News editorial on Chris Collins and congressional reform regarding benefiting from inside information hit it out of the park. As our Congress rambles on over the president’s alleged misdeeds and gets little else done, they need to get busy on tightening the rules to bar personal benefit from inside information and lobbyists. The News, along with PBS, 60 Minutes, and several other news outlets, all agree that the Collins conviction should motivate much needed reform by Congress to ensure this practice comes to a welcome end. I get the challenge of imposing rules on themselves but members with courage, character and leadership skills need to step up to the plate.
