What is this Project Loon? It is an innovative technology devised by Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL), which sends a number of balloons into the stratosphere (~13 miles above the sea level). These balloons can then be arranged to form one big communication network. This project was mainly to venture into the 2/3rd of population unexposed to the internet. Many believed that this project was ambitious. But Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is all set to test its first prototype over the Australian skies.

MacDonald reported that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is planning to test its project loon in Australia in December. She added that they are planning to test fly 20 balloons over North-Eastern Australia. She mentioned that Project Loon aims to beam the internet to 2/3rd of population that does not have the internet.

MacDonald added that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is planning to circle these balloons for a day and beam the internet to devices in remote parts of Australia.

“Next month we are going to possibly see, Google test flying 20 balloons over North-Eastern Australia. It’s all part of its Project Loon to basically beam the internet to 2/3rd of world population that does not have the internet. So it will beam the internet to devices down below. Google’s plan is to circle the earth one day with these balloons,” MacDonald reported.

As the news about Project Loon testing broke out, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) shares went up by 1% on Tuesday.
