Google Inc (GOOG) Prepares For Battle With Apple Inc. (AAPL)

We all know that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) are fighting it out for market share in the mobile operating system space. If you want to get a better idea of where things stand right now, you don’t have to look any further than this surprising piece we published last week.

Tim CookWhile Apple iOS and Google Android continue to battle for mobile operating system supremacy, there is something else we need to keep an eye on: the fact that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is going to be pushing its own smartphone, known as Moto X, in the near future. With this in mind, the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone is going to have even more competition.

While this storyline is interesting enough, it gets even better as we take a closer look at a recent story published by Quartz: Google is about to spend half of Apple’s annual marketing budget promoting a single phone

In other words, Google is not taking things lightly. The search engine giant is well aware of what it will take to compete with Apple, as well as the rest of the competition, and is willing to spend big money to flex its muscle early on.

Hers is a brief excerpt from the piece:

“Google’s forthcoming, Samsung-killing Moto-X Android “superphone” is also going to have a super-size advertising budget of up to half a billion dollars.”

If you don’t think this is a lot of money, consider the fact that it is roughly half of what Apple Inc. (NASDAAQ:AAPL) spent advertising all of its products last year. This goes a long way in showing just how serious Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) really is.

While it is only natural to compare Apple and Google when looking at this story, don’t sleep on Samsung. Remember, Samsung is the company that spent roughly $4 billon on advertising last year. This is more than Apple, and is one of the many reasons why the company has been able to compete at a high level in the smartphone market.

For Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), this story is just now beginning to heat up. We will be keeping a close watch on this project, as well as how Google decides to advertise the device in the future. Along with this, we will also watch for a response from Apple Inc. (NASDAAQ:AAPL).
