Gilead (GILD) Supports Faster South Africa Access to Lenacapavir

On June 5, 2026, Gilead Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:GILD) applauded the Government of South Africa and the Global Fund for accelerating access to lenacapavir, a long-acting HIV prevention medication. CEO Daniel O’Day said South Africa is “at the heart of global efforts to end HIV,” and that Gilead is working with country leadership, the Global Fund, and the U.S. State Department through PEPFAR to bring lenacapavir to communities most in need ahead of a broader rollout of generic versions.

On June 2, 2026, Gilead Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:GILD) announced Phase 3 results in primary biliary cholangitis showing that Livdelzi led to significantly more patients achieving normalization of alkaline phosphatase, or ALP, compared with placebo after 52 weeks. Gilead said Livdelzi was generally well tolerated, with no treatment discontinuations due to adverse events and no new safety signals observed with up to two years of follow-up.
