In response to the campaign and in announcing the impending policy update, Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) vice president Marne Levine said. “In recent days, it has become clear that our systems to identify and remove hate speech have failed to work as effectively as we would like, particularly around issues of gender-based hate. In some cases, content is not being removed as quickly as we want. In other cases, content that should be removed has not been or has been evaluated using outdated criteria … We need to do better – and we will.”

Where do you think the free-speech line should be drawn? Is Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) right to be assuming responsibility for the speech of its users? How can this still encourage free speech while preventing offensive content? Give us your thoughts on this thorny issue in the comments section below.
