Duke Energy Corporation (DUK) Commits $200K to Aid Low-Income Indiana Energy Bills

Duke Energy Indiana, a subsidiary of Duke Energy Corporation (NYSE:DUK), is allocating $200,000 to its Share the Light Fund to assist customers struggling financially this summer. The support is intended to help families and individuals handle increased energy costs caused by hotter weather and greater usage.

In the past five years, contributions from Duke Energy Corporation (NYSE:DUK) shareholders, employees, and customers have totaled over $4 million, helping nearly 15,000 households in Indiana with their energy bills through the Share the Light Fund.

Stan Pinegar, president of Duke Energy Indiana, made the following comment:

“The financial assistance we offer through the Share the Light Fund helps connect customers in need to resources to help pay their electric bills and stay cool through the summer. We appreciate our longtime partnership with statewide community action agencies who help identify customers in need and distribute the funds.”

Duke Energy Corporation (NYSE:DUK) is one of the largest energy holding firms in the US. Its electric utilities provide service to 8.6 million customers across North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky, with a total energy capacity of 55,100 megawatts. In addition, its natural gas utilities serve 1.7 million customers in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio, and Kentucky.

DUK has surged by over 8% since the start of 2025.
