Does The Apple Inc. (AAPL) iPhone Really Need a Bigger Screen?

The fact that consumers want an Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone with a bigger screen is no surprise. This is something people have been calling on for many years, and now with the competition moving in this direction it appears to be an even bigger sticking point for some buyers.

Whether or not Apple actually moves in this direction is yet to be seen. That being said, it is important to keep an eye on what the competition is doing.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) to be Added to Several WisdomTree ETFsWhile there is no denying the fact that some Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone competitors have a larger screen, is it possible that this trend is dying off as quickly as it caught on?

At this point, Samsung and its Galaxy S4 smartphone is the number one threat to Apple. This device has a lot to offer, including a larger screen size coupled with a variety of high level features.

With all that in mind, it looks like Samsung is taking a step back and releasing smaller variations of its popular S4 smartphone.

BGR is reporting the following: Samsung Galaxy S4 mini revealed in leaked photos

Although this does not mean the company is doing away with its larger screen in the original Galaxy S4, it is taking a step back in terms of size.

Here is what the BGR piece had to say:

“Anonymous Weibo user “PunkPanda,” who has leaked authentic photos of unreleased devices in the past, recently posted pictures of what is claimed to be Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S4 mini. The images show a device that appears to line up well with specs leaked in previous reports, and they also show the phone next to the full-size Galaxy S4. The S4 mini is expected to launch in July featuring a 4.3-inch qHD display, an 8-megapixel rear camera and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.”

What does this mean to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and its iPhone lineup moving forward? The answer all depends on what Cupertino has in the cards.

On one side of things, people are still going to be craving a larger screen to compete directly with the Galaxy S4 along with other models. That being said, the other side of the equation is the fact that Samsung does not seem overly obsessed with a larger screen size.

Only time will tell if Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is going to push an iPhone with a larger screen.
