Does Google Inc (GOOG) Have Plans to Attack Itself? Crazy But True

The Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android operating system is doing big things. Despite growing competition, the search engine giant has not had any issues staying at the top of the market. This is due in large part to its many partners, including Samsung. While the OS will continue to do big things in the near future, there is a story we should be keeping an eye on (along with this).

Google Inc (GOOG)BGR recently published an interesting piece: Moto X leak may reveal Google’s plan to attack its own Android partners

In other words, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is coming up with its own smartphone. With this in mind, its Android partners have to be worried about what the future will bring. This more or less shows that Google is going to be competing with itself.

With all this in mind, Google will continue to be the big winner because it can rely on its own smartphone as well as its Android partners.

Here is more from the article:

“As many vendors had likely feared when Google first announced plans to acquire Motorola Mobility, Google now appears to be taking the first steps to separate itself from the Android pack. While it will undoubtedly continue to add great new features and functionality to the free and open version of Android, it will also apparently refine and build upon those features in its own smartphone division — Motorola.”

As you can see, this move was a long time coming. It is not something Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) decided to do on a whim. Instead, the company has been thinking about this for quite some time and now finally appears to be moving forward.

It will be interesting to see if this decision has any impact on its Android partners. Will some of its partners begin to look elsewhere? While this could be the case, it is hard to imagine a company, such as Samsung, making a change.

The article also touched on another interesting point:

“What this means is that over the next few years, we may see real separation build between Google and its Android vendor partners. On one side we’ll have “open Android,” which companies like Samsung and HTC will use as the base for their own smartphone efforts.”

On the other side of things, there is a change Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) could hold back some features for use solely on its phone.
