Cadian Now Owns 5.1% of Green Plains Renewable Energy Stock

Cadian Master Fund: Green Plains Renewable Energy Inc. (NASDAQ:GPRE) has recently been added to the equity portfolio of Cadian Master Fund, which disclosed a passive stake of around 5.1%. According to a filing with the SEC, the fund owns more than 1.5 million shares of Green Plains, with the value of the position amounting to $24.2 million.

Ethanol producer and distributor Green Plains Renewable Energy, this year, approved the installment of a quarterly cash dividend which amounts to $0.04 per common share. The company also reported a net profit of $6 million ($0.19 per share) for the second quarter of the year, versus a net loss of $7.6 million reported for the second quarter of last year, Green Plains said in a statement.

Cadian Master Fund is a partner of  Eric Bannasch’s Cadian Capital, which at the end of last quarter held 2.1 million shares of the company. Another hedge fund, whose stake is worth mentioning is Aqr Capital Management, managed by Cliff Asness, who is also long.
