Bristow Group Inc (BRS), Rubicon Technology, Inc. (RBCN): Ariel Investments Increases Stakes

John W. Rogers seems to have changed his mind about Bristow Group Inc (NYSE:BRS) – after reducing his fund’s stake in the company by 6% during the second quarter, he has now boosted his fund stake through the acquisition of 668,112 shares. As reported in a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, his fund, Ariel Investments, now holds 3.72 million shares or 10.5% of the Bristow Group Inc (NYSE:BRS)’s common stock. In another filing, Rogers and Ariel Investments have disclosed the addition of 763,640 shares of Rubicon Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:RBCN) to their previous position, taking it to a total of 2.11 million shares, which account for 8.1% of the total number of shares outstanding.

Peter S. Park, the manager of Park West Asset Management, is still bullish on Bristow Group Inc (NYSE:BRS) and has increased his fund’s stake in the company by 15% during the second quarter of this year. In its latest 13F filing, Park West has reported the ownership of 753,700 shares valued at $60.7 million. Jim Simons also thinks the stock has room to grow and has boosted his fund’s investment by 17% during the same period of time. Renaissance Technologies now holds 210,800 shares worth roughly $17 million. Martin Whitman has, on the other hand, chosen to limit his fund’s exposure to Bristow Group Inc (NYSE:BRS), dumping approximately 11% of his position. Whitman’s fund, Third Avenue Management, currently owns approximately 276,700 shares worth in excess of $22.3 million.

Gregory A. Weaver, the manager of Invicta Capital Management, is also a fan of Rubicon Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:RBCN) and has boosted his fund’s investment in the company by 317% during Q2 of this year. Invicta Capital has reported ownership of 1.25 million shares valued at approximately $11 million. Chuck Royce has chosen to limit his fund’s exposure to Rubicon Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:RBCN) and has reduced his stake by 12% during the same period of time. Royce & Associates now holds 1.63 million shares worth $14.3 million.
