Boeing Co (BA): Airbus Looking To Disrupt The Dominance With Its A350

Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) has released its Dreamliner, formally known as Boeing 787, and it’s made a great impression as orders had been strong since the planes were freshly launched. According to the company’s press release, Virgin Atlantic Airways Limited celebrated the first 787-9 delivery on October 10. There are 15 more such aircrafts to reach the same destination. Boeing Co (NYSE:BA)’s release is still a success, however, Airbus promises to pose some challenges for the sky dominance with its A350 as CNBC reported.

Boeing BA Airplane 737

“The A350 is a new generation of aircraft, a lot more fuel economy, a lot more silence. We hope in the way with 380 was already a big step forward. We had 25% composite material, now we go to 53%, so more efficiency, more aerodynamics, less noise,” said Jean Botti, Chief Technical Officer of Airbus Group.

On Airbus’ website, there are three types of specs made available for the 800, 900 and 1,000 versions of the A350. The typical seat numbers for these different models are 276, 315 and 369 respectively and if you compare to Boeing Co (NYSE:BA)’s 242, 280 and 323 there is an almost obvious inference that can be made. That is, Airbus plans on being marginally better than its competitor. It also promises that its plane will be 20% more fuel efficient than the rival’s 787, despite a bigger size.

“The 350 is a fantastic airplane. It’s got all the new features including also the air conditioning and everything, so, definitely it will be right up there. […] The 350 has got an excellent start with lots of orders and I’m absolutely convinced it will be a great product,” Jean Botti.

Whether the numbers will be prove exact and sustainable it’s an unknown subject yet. Nevertheless, the newest plane coming from Airbus is a promising medium of transportation. Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) should start worrying that it has to bring something new to its customers, otherwise profits might bleed.
