Apple Inc. (AAPL): The Mind-Blowing Steve Wozniak Interview No One is Talking About

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) generates a ton of buzz, and that’s an understatement. So, naturally, anytime we find an interview that’s flying way under the radar, we’ve gotta share the details. This one comes courtesy of Florida International University’s Hearst Lecture Series, found via YouTube. In the video, Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, discusses “the future of apps and Siri” in particular.

At a little over 1:30, the interview isn’t lengthy by any means, but there are some interesting tidbits of information, particularly what Wozniak sees in Siri and Apple’s future. We’re always willing to ponder what the Cupertino-based company will be like down the road, whether it’s Apple’s patent for Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)style augmented reality glasses, rumors of an ‘iWatch’ smart watch, or talk of a Dr. Doom-type falloff in market cap.

When Wozniak talks Siri, though, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) investors should pay attention even further, because, who better to hear it from?

So, now that we know that, let’s take a look at the transcript (compiled by Insider Monkey, original video here).

WOZNIAK: “I look, sometimes I look, what apps have I used in the last day, and there’s like 30 of them stretched out, and every one of them was important at the time I used it. So my life is largely defined almost by the apps I use. Everything you do in life that’s important to you: getting airplane schedules, checking on timing, getting answers to things like distances, finding out what movie’s playing where–we almost all want to go to apps that are designed to do it then.”

Here’s what he had to say about Apple’s Siri, which has many bulls excited on both Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s prospects, and those of voice and language software partner Nuance Communications Inc. (NASDAQ:NUAN).

WOZNIAK: “I do like Siri because it’s sort of a general one that reaches all apps. Someday, I want to be able to say the name of an app, like Foursquare, and say it to Siri. I’ll say ‘Foursquare,’ and now it’s going to use Foursquare’s language from now on. ‘Check me into this restaurant,’ you know, or something. Eventually, all of those apps–I just want to get to worry about not even having to find an app.”

Concerning Wozniak’s view for the future, he had this to say:

WOZNIAK: “I want the apps to be able to become a part of the voice system, and the way that’s going to happen is we had a language in Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)–we still do–on our computers, called AppleScript. AppleScript was as very strange computer language; there’s no other like it […] In AppleScript you will always say ‘tell a certain application program,’ ‘tell app Mail’ to do some things for you, to copy a file or something. Whoever you’re talking to, you now speak their language–they each have their own dictionary. So, the language of this programming language is not defined.”

Wozniak concluded his interview–or at least FIU’s video portion–with a call to action: “I want every programmer to start coming out and being a part of Siri…”

While he didn’t spill the beans of an Apple iWatch or smart glasses, there may have been a slight slip at the end of this statement, when he said, “…every app on the iPhone, and the same thing would apply to other tech–other platforms.

Certainly, the phrase other technologies was not uttered, but it’s clear that the Apple co-founder corrected himself before saying a word that begins in “tech.” As most readers know, there’s a very big difference between Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s future if it can release new forms of technology rather than just updates to its platforms.

But don’t take our word for it, watch for yourself on the next page:
