What is the reason for this? Why are so many people turning to the smaller iPad when the full-size device has been popular for so many years?

While there is no definite answer, Hsieh added the following:

“It seems people especially like the size…[it’s] lighter, slimmer and easier to carry.”

There is no arguing that. The Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad mini, with its 7.85-inch display, is undoubtedly smaller than the full-size tablet, making it easier to transport.

With all of this information, you may have one final question on your mind: what does this mean for future sales of the iPad mini?

“In 2013, it is likely that Apple will adjust its product portfolio to meet the strong demand for the iPad Mini. We believe that Apple is targeting total iPad shipments of 100 million in 2013, half accounted for by the iPad Mini,” Hsieh concluded.

Take into consideration that the iPad mini is now available in other countries, such as Russia, and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may be forced to contract with another panel supplier.
