Tim Cook China Mobile: Apple CEO Tim Cook Visiting China Reseller

Tim Cook China Mobile: As we discussed yesterday, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO Tim Cook has been visiting China. During his visit, Cook has met with China’s minister of industry and information technology while also taking a closer look at the company’s many retail stores in the country.

Earlier today, AppleInsider posted a reader photo of Cook meeting with some of the staff at Dragonstar (one of the most popular Apple resellers in Beijing.).

The article goes on to add the following:

“While it cannot be confirmed due to the image’s resolution, it appears as though a second man in the photo could be Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller.”

It is nice to see that the CEO of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is willing to meet with resellers, such as Dragonstar, to take a closer look at how things are being done and to simply meet with people. As you know, this is not something that all CEO’s are comfortable with.

Although Cook spends most of his time in the United States, there is no denying the fact that his trips to China are becoming more and more frequent. From AppleInsider:

“This is the second trip to China for Cook in less than ten months, as the Apple chief visited an iPhone production facility run by manufacturing partner Foxconn last March. During that trip Cook discussed intellectual property issues and potential cooperation with the Chinese government with Vice Premier Li Keqiang.”

China is an important market in terms of the future growth of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). If the company wants to continue to grow its marketshare, targeting the “tech hungry” people of China is a great place to start.

Is it possible that Cook is spending more time in China because a deal between Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and China Mobile is imminent? Here is what PC Magazine thinks:

“As media outlets made their own guesses as to why Cook ended up in the Asian nation this week, speculation about Cupertino’s plans to partner with China Mobile —the world’s largest cell network—was making the rounds. Currently, Apple reaches about 340 million users via China Unicom and China Telecom. A deal with China Mobile could make another 100 million or more potential subscribers available.”
