Apple Inc. (AAPL)’s Strategy: Make the Best, Not the Most

While many continue to wonder when Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is going to introduce a new product to the market, it is important to note that the Cupertino based company does not operate the same way as many others in the industry.

Rather than push as many products as possible, Apple focuses on bringing only the best of the best to its consumers. This may be an approach that you don’t agree with, but one thing is for sure: it has worked out for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) in the past, and it will likely bring good things to the company in the future.

Can this be frustrating to consumers and investors? Most definitely. While Apple continues to go along, day after day without introducing anything fresh, others, such as Samsung, are always on the move.

Apple Inc. (AAPL)Once again, this is a matter of philosophy. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has no desire to have the most products on the market. Instead, the company is looking to have the best products.

If you don’t believe all this to be true, it is time to take a closer look at what Apple CEO Tim Cook had to say during a recent interview at the All Things Digital conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

Here is just a sampling of what he had to say:

“For us, winning has never been about making the most. That has never been, that has never been the cornerstone of Apple. Arguably we make the best PC, we don’t make the most. We make the best music player, we wound up making the most. We didn’t initially. We make the best tablet, we are making the most there today. We make the best phone, we are not making the most phones.”

This is only the first 30 seconds of the piece, and it is easy to see where Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO Tim Cook is coming from. He talks about several products, all of which have something unique to offer and all of which are within an interesting place in their respective market.

After reading this, it is safe to say that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has no plans of changing its approach in the future. Cupertino knows that it doesn’t need the most products to be the best. And if it does need more products, it has no problem taking the lead.
