Amazon (AMZN) Forms Unit for Agentic AI Development

On June 4, Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) confirmed the formation of a group within its consumer product development arm. The new group will focus on agentic artificial intelligence solutions at a time when companies are exploring ways of developing AI agents that go beyond text and image generators.

The new team will operate from Lab126, the tech giant Silicon Valley-based research and development unit. The unit has already worked on the Kindle e-reader, Echo smart speaker, and other popular Amazon devices.

Amazon is setting up a new group to develop an agentic AI framework for its robotics operations. Agentic AI is becoming increasingly popular due to its ability to carry out multiple steps and complex actions on behalf of users.

Integrating agentic AI should allow robots to hear, understand, and act faster. It should also enhance their functionality and interaction with users. The launch of the new group comes on the heels of Amazon’s AI lab releasing a new web browser-based agent earlier in the year. The company’s cloud unit has also formed an agentic AI group.

Amazon is a technology giant that has morphed into an internet-based business enterprise that provides cloud computing, digital streaming, AI services, and an e-commerce platform.
