5. GitLab Inc. (NASDAQ:GTLB)

GitLab Inc. (NASDAQ:GTLB) is one of the most prominent investments in the Alphabet portfolio. The company develops software for the software development lifecycle in the United States, Europe, and the Asia Pacific. In October 2017, the company raised $20 million in new venture capital funding in a round led by GV. Similarly, on September 21, 2018, GitLab Inc. (NASDAQ:GTLB) announced that it had raised $100 million in Series D funding after being backed by Alphabet’s GV, who is a chief investor for GitHub. Alphabet believes that GitLab has what it takes to surpass Microsoft’s GitHub. As of November 15, GV holds a $31.5 million stake in GitLab.
