Billionaire Mario Gabelli’s GAMCO Investors and its affiliates reported the acquisition of 1.55 million shares of Alliance Fiber Optic Products Inc (NASDAQ:AFOP), which account for 9.82% of the company’s total amount of shares. GAMCO owns 197,500 shares out of the aggregate amount and Alliance Fiber Optic Products represent a new position in its equity portfolio.

Alliance Fiber Optic Products  (NASDAQ:AFOP) is a manufacturer of a variety of fiber optic related products and integrated modules, such as couplers and splitters,  dense wavelength division multiplexing devices, interconnect devices,  planar lightwave circuits to name a few. Over the past 12 months, the company’s shares have increased by 0.49%. Recently,  B. Riley reiterated its ‘neutral’ rating on Alliance Fiber Optic Products’ stock at the price target of $18.50.
