AbbVie Inc. (ABBV) and Chicago Cubs Launch “Striking Out Cancer” Campaign

AbbVie Inc. (NYSE:ABBV) and the Chicago Cubs have announced a major multi-year partnership to fight cancer, launching the “Striking Out Cancer” campaign during today’s game against the Cincinnati Reds. For every strikeout by a Cubs pitcher at home during the 2025 regular season, ABBV will donate $233—symbolizing the 233 Americans diagnosed with cancer every hour—to support cancer research and advocacy.

All funds raised will go to Cubs Charities and benefit organizations on the frontlines of cancer research, including Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation, and other not-for-profits dedicated to advancing the fight against cancer. AbbVie Inc. (NYSE:ABBV)’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Tracie Haas, emphasized that each strikeout represents a step forward for patients and families battling cancer, aiming to boost both awareness and tangible support for the cause.

The campaign aligns with AbbVie Inc. (NYSE:ABBV)’s mission to deliver transformative medicines and solutions in oncology and beyond, while the Cubs reaffirm their commitment to making a difference off the field. The initiative will run through the end of the 2025 season, with hopes of making a significant impact in the lives of those affected by cancer.
