Comcast’s (CMCSA) DataBee Adds AI-Powered BluVector to Cybersecurity Portfolio

DataBee, a subsidiary of Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA), announced on June 4 the addition of BluVector, an AI-powered network detection and response (NDR) platform, to its cybersecurity product portfolio. The new offering joins DataBee’s existing security data fabric platform to provide comprehensive cybersecurity solutions.

DataBee BluVector delivers on-premise cybersecurity capabilities that use artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to detect network evidence of cyber threats. These include ransomware, in-memory malware, and zero-day exploits, among others. Users can now initiate cybersecurity investigations more rapidly and disrupt attacks before they cause damage.

According to DataBee, the platform’s patented ML engine can identify zero-day malware, file-less attacks, and polymorphic threats without requiring prior signatures. All it needs to do is analyze the file content for malicious characteristics, and any threats will be singled out. DataBee BluVector’s superpower is that it can inspect millions of packets per second at line speed—it can scale beyond 10 Gbps for real-time threat detection. The system’s adaptive AI capabilities learn from each organization’s unique environment to continuously customize threat detection over time.

Comcast acquired BluVector Inc. in 2019 and has deployed the NDR platform throughout its own infrastructure. The company uses BluVector to prioritize and enhance threat hunting with detection and intelligence sources. It also leverages AI-powered detections for file-based malware and zero-day attacks and reduces costly log intake processes.
