Twitter Inc (TWTR) Dissuades Posting Photos Via Facebook Inc (FB)’s Instagram

It seems Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) doesn’t really like its top users from using Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s Instagram to post photos to Twitter.

According to Mashable, Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) has started deterring its top users from posting photos through the Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)-owned Instagram service.

The publication said that for users with a lot of followers, prompts started popping up on Thursday whenever an Instagram post was to be Tweeted.

“Post your photos directly on Twitter to make sure your fans always see them,” Twitter is quoted as saying on their message to popular users.

Mashable said that an unnamed source close to Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) said that the message against posting through the Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) Instagram service was “sent out to a group of notable users in media, entertainment, sports and other categories.”

Below the Twitter message was a button labeled “Show me”. According to Mashable’s source, the message is a prompt from Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) to educate its top users how to use the native photo function of their service “to boost engagement”.

However, the move seems to not be working as effectively as Twitter may want. According Mashable’s Seth Fiegerman, celebrities and other popular personalities have instead been tweeting Instagram links.

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) bought Instagram in 2012 for a cool $1 billion.

Meanwhile, Twitter seems to be rolling out more and more features as of late. The latest addition to their iOS app is a recap screen titled “While you were away”.
