5. Florida 

Total Number of Postsecondary Degree-Granting Institutions between 2021-2022: 162

Florida ranks fifth on our list of the 15 states with the most colleges in the US. The state had 162 postsecondary degree-granting institutes in 2021-2022. 41 of these were public institutes, while 62 were private nonprofit institutions. The state also had 59 private for-profit colleges.
