5. Republic of Estonia

Annual average PM2.5 concentration (μg/m³): 4.9

The Republic of Estonia is a Baltic European country. It is quite prosperous with a $41 billion GDP and a per capita output of $31,207. Estonia exports a mix of both primary and secondary products such as communications devices, oil, cars, buildings, wheat, and furniture. However, Estonia produces vast amounts of electricity from shale oil. Still, Estonia is one of the best examples of the importance of forests and trees, as despite the high levels of oil in its energy mix, the fact that more than half of the country is covered with forests makes it one of the least polluted nations on the planet.
