5 Easiest Countries to Retire To

3. Portugal

Income Requirement: $700

Portugal is an affordable option for retirees. The Retirement visa, or the Portugal D7 Visa, is granted to non-EU citizens having a steady income from their pension or other savings for at least 24 months. Applicants must provide all necessary documentation, upon which they will be granted a visa with a one-year validity. It can be renewed twice, each time for two years, to add a maximum of five years. After five years, applicants can apply for a permanent residency. EU nationals can avail residency through another route, known as the Golden Visa. The visa requires an applicant to either purchase real estate, invest, create jobs, or donate a certain amount to their research activities or their national heritage reconstruction.
