This is not the first time we have reported on hedge funds making bets on very similar positions.
Guru Ramakrishnan founded Meru Capital in 2009 after selling his Old Lane fund to Citigroup in 2007. A close friend of Vikram Pandit, Guru Ramakrishnan was criticized for having the opportunity to start a fund in the height of the latest financial crisis, but to be fair, many fund managers have had a second, or third go-around. The point is this: Meru Capital has more than $500 million in assets under management and its equity investments in the Services and Tech sectors should be watched closely.
