With Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) BlackBerry hoping to continue its strong comeback in the smartphone market, the company is relying heavily on its new devices to carry the load. While the Z10 and Q10 have performed well up to this point, it is the Q5 that is getting a lot of the attention at the present time. We discussed this here, talking about how the phone was initially released in Dubai.
Of course, if BlackBerry is going to have any success with the Q5 the company needs to push it into other markets throughout the world. At this time, it appears that BlackBerry is taking a slow and steady approach with the release of this device
According to CrackBerry, consumers in Germany are the next group in position to get their hands on this new Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) BlackBerry smartphone.
Here is an excerpt from the piece:
“The BlackBerry Q5 keeps popping up in some random places around the world and now it’s arrived in Germany courtesy of O2. Judging by the website, O2 opted to not pull in any of the color variants that the BlackBerry Q5 offers but instead went for the straight up black version only.”
It is interesting to note that the Q5 has yet to make its way to any major markets, such as the United States or Canada. Instead, the company is really moving slowly with Dubai and Germany selected as the first two regions to offer the smartphone to consumers.
Does Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) BlackBerry have a reason for this strategy? Is it a good one? Only time will tell. At some point, the company either needs to announce the release in larger markets or give up on the product altogether. There is no reason to believe that the company will give up on this smartphone, as it hasn’t given it a chance to succeed just yet.
Here is more from the article, discussing pricing among other details:
“In terms of pricing, O2 in Germany has been know to always be a little on the higher side and right now they’ve set the Q5 at €389 with no contract but depending on what tariff you choose, you can get the price down to less than €20.”
To this point, the Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) BlackBerry Q5 has taken an interesting path.
