Retirement a la Warren Buffett (MarketWatch)
In last week’s column I discussed several of Warren Buffett’s many quotations that can help all investors, especially retirees, get on the right track and stay there. Buffett is legendary for his portfolio of carefully chosen stocks, but even he has been unable to avoid some major setbacks. He’s smart enough to essentially say: Do as I say, not as I do. Most investors, both individual and institutional, he once said, “will find that the best way to own common stocks is through an index fund that charges minimal fees. Those following this path are sure to beat the net results (after fees and expenses) of the great majority of investment professionals.”

Warren Buffett’s Son Peter Uses Music And Philanthropy To Fight Human Trafficking (Forbes)
Millions of people revere Warren Buffett for his investing acumen. Far fewer know about his son Peter Buffett’s talents. On Monday at the Global Philanthropy Forum conference in Silicon Valley, Peter Buffett mixed his musical talents and his passion for improving the lives of girls and women. An Emmy Award-winning musician, Buffett debuted a new song meant to raise awareness of and inspire action against human trafficking and sexual abuse of girls and women. The song, ‘Silence is Broken’ was accompanied by video images of young girls, along with running quotes from those who are victims of abuse and trafficking. Many of the quotes were heartbreaking: “My drug-addicted uncle started to molest me, not realizing that his friend was already molesting me” – Age 7 Peter Buffett and his wife Jennifer run the NoVo Foundation, which works to empower girls and women and end violence against them.

Play the market like Tiger plays golf (Yahoo)
Very few people on this planet have earned the title of “greatest ever.” In investing, many would argue that this distinction goes to Warren Buffett; in golf, it’s Tiger Woods. But in this world you do not need to be the best to achieve success. However, we are fortunate that those who are considered the best have laid out lessons for us that can help us become more successful. Both Warren Buffett and Tiger Woods do a few simple things spectacularly well to achieve their goals. While odds are quite high that you will never become Woods or Buffett, you don’t have to in order to succeed.
