Two Hedge Funds with $1+ Billion Facebook Positions

Hedge Funds FacebookForbes published an article yesterday, disclosing the names of two hedge fund managers with $1+ billion Facebook positions. Chase Coleman's Facebook holdings would be worth $1.7 billion at a price of $35 per share. We knew about Chase Coleman's big Facebook bet last year. He also has more than a billion dollars invested in Russia's search engine company Yandex (YNDX).

The other hedge fund manager with a billion dollar Facebook bet is Valiant Capital's Chris Hansen. Christopher R. Hansen is a relatively new name in this game. He worked at Blue Ridge Capital until 2008, so his hedge fund is less than 4 years old. This means Facebook investment wasn't a ten bagger for Valiant investors.

There is a third hedge fund manager who made billions in Facebook: Peter Thiel. Peter Thiel isn't really a hedge fund manager though. He got lucky in the beginning but his loses in the second half of 2008, 2009 and 2010 were lethal for his investors. He is a great venture capital investor though.
