Will WD-40 get the job done this quarter?
Analysts have had mixed views on WD-40 Company (NASDAQ:WDFC) recently, cutting back on earnings estimates for the just-ended quarter but boosting their full-year fiscal 2013 calls by $0.03 per share. The stock has done quite well lately, though, rising almost 14% since the beginning of the year.
WD-40 reaps the benefits of having its small niche largely to itself. What may be surprising is the extent to which WD-40 Company (NASDAQ:WDFC) has followed in Unilever and The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG)’s steps by looking to overseas markets for growth opportunities. Unfortunately, WD-40 has a much larger presence in Europe than in Asia, and given Europe’s struggles, the company could face tougher times ahead until the economy there manages to rebound. That’s consistent with The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG)’s challenges overseas, although Unilever has done a good job taking advantage of The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG)’s miscues to tap into global growth prospects.
