Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and its iPhone are always fighting off the competition. Even when this smartphone faces a downturn, you know it is going to comeback stronger than ever before. This is what most consumers are expecting from the next generation iPhone (more details on when to expect this here).

With all this in mind, there is no reason to believe that Apple can simply sit back and continue to play at a very high level. The company needs to continue its push forward if it is going to fight off the competition into the future.

LG believes it has a  big winner with its upcoming G2 smartphone. This device is expected to be announced on August 7th at a press conference in New York City.  Although Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is preparing the launch of its next generation iPhone, it is safe to say that the company is still keeping a close watch on what the rest of the market is up to.

Here is so more information regarding LC and its G2 smartphone from BGR:

“LG thinks it has a winner on its hands with the upcoming G2 smartphone. The handset is shaping up to be one of the most impressive devices of the year, at least on paper. The latest rumors suggest the G2 will be equipped with a 5.2-inch full HD 1080p display, a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel rear camera. LG sold more than 10 million smartphones worldwide last quarter, and company executives believe the G2 will give sales an extra boost in the second half of the year.”

Regardless of if the LG G2 lives up to expectations or not, it is going to give consumers another alternative. For this reason, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and its competition, such as Samsung, need to be aware of what is going on.

Is there any real reason to believe this phone can be a major player in the smartphone market? While LG may not be one of the top names at this time, it did sell more than 10 million smartphones last quarter.

Things are about to get good in the smartphone market. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is going to push its newest iPhone while LG is about to throw the G2 into the ring. When you add the rest of the competition, you can see a nice battle shaping up during the second half of 2013.
