iPhone Vs Galaxy S4: Samsung Galaxy S4 Released – Should Apple be Worried?

iPhone Vs Galaxy S4: With the new Samsung Galaxy S4 hitting the market, it is safe to say that competitors, including Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) are paying close attention to how it is received. While the iPhone has a strong following and many are looking forward to the potential for a lower priced option, any new release is sure to mix things up quite a bit.

Samsung did an excellent job building the hype for its new smartphone. By the time it was released to the public last night, many were craving to learn more about the finer details of the device.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) to be Added to Several WisdomTree ETFsAll in all, the Galaxy S4 is full of updated hardware and software features – some of which the most recent Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone is lacking.

First things first, the Galaxy S4 has a 5 inch full HD display. This is in comparison to the 4 inch display used by Apple.

As far as the software is concerned, nobody expects the Galaxy S4 and iPhone to be similar. After all, the latest release by Samsung is running on Android Jelly Bean. With that in mind, it is important to note that the company added its own features to make the operating system more robust.

For a complete breakdown of how the Galaxy S4 compares to the iPhone, you don’t have to look any further than this USA Today online story.

For example, you will find that the Galaxy S4 has dimensions of 5.3 inches x 2.74 inches x 0.3 inches; weighs 4.5 ounces.

This compares to the following for the iPhone: 4.87 inches x 2.31 inches x 0.30 inches; weighs 3.95 ounces

As you can see, the iPhone is a bit smaller all around. That being said, it also makes the phone from Apple lighter.

With all this in mind, you probably have one burning question: will the new Samsung Galaxy S4 further bite into Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPhone market share? While it is entirely too early to answer this question, here is what Piper Jaffray’s Gene Munster had to say, as quoted by CNN Money:

Despite the launch and fanfare around the Galaxy S4, we continue to believe that Apple will maintain a low 40% market share in the high-end smartphone market in CY13.”

As you can see, Munster does not feel that the S4 will take any “high-end smartphone market share” away from Apple in 2013.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone will makes its debut this spring on all four major US wireless carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon.
