Research in Motion Ltd (BBRY) Has 3-Year Plan to Lead This Market

Research in Motion Ltd. (NASDAQ:BBRY) – yes, otherwise known as BlackBerry – has great affection for the Thailand marketplace. It is one of those very large but emerging markets that have gained so much interest from tech companies – markets like China, India and Brazil. But now BlackBerry, which has had a modest if not spectacular following in Thailand, is launching a new initative in the country with the goal of becoming the No. 1 smartphone company in the country by 2016.

BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY)Research in Motion Ltd. (NASDAQ:BBRY) is pulling out all the stops with this initiative. It just introduced the Z10 handset to Thailand recently, and the company just announced it would roll out handsets  at  lower price points into the country by the end of the year. The company also will open a BlackBerry Experience Centre in the country to provide product displays and demonstrations, and the country hired its first  director of operations for the Thailand market – Benoit Nalin. “Thailand is an important country for BlackBerry. It is a big market … We are looking to be No 1 in the Thai mobile market,” he said.

Research in Motion Ltd. (NASDAQ:BBRY) says it will implement three strategies with this initiative – develop handsets  that are innovative  across every price point in the market, develop  strong partnerships with the several wireless carriers in the country  and would work with local application developers to bring a native touch to the BlackBerry mobile app experience.
