LinkedIn arrives for Nokia’s full touchscreen Asha handsets (The Next Web)
LinkedIn Corp (NYSE:LNKD) has released a version of its app that will play happily with the full touchscreen members of Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK)’s Asha family. Released on Tuesday, the app brings familiar LinkedIn features such as your stream of updates, the ability to like, comment and share, the option to respond to connection requests and send messages, as well as the core features like search. “We really wanted to design something for ambitious people on the go. What we always try to do with mobile applications is design something that’s consistent with the user experience on the website itself, but something that’s really useful for people in transit as well.” LinkedIn Corp (NYSE:LNKD)’s Giovanni Iachello, head of international product management, said in a post on the official Nokia blog.

Stephen ElopNokia tipped to release quad-core, 1080p packing phablet this year (Pocket-lint.com)
Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) has plans to launch a “phablet’ (aka a comically larger handset) by the end of the year, reports My Nokia Blog. According to the publication, we can expect CEO Stephen Elop and Co to include a quad-core processor and 1080p screen on the handset, ushering in a new era of Windows Phone devices. Why aren’t high-powered devices like the one rumoured today on the market yet? It all comes down to the Windows Phone software not supporting a 1080p screen and faster processor. However, that is all destined to change as the GDR3 update coming soon to the Windows Phone platform will enable the higher-end hardware features.

Nokia intros App Social Beta for Windows Phone with crowdsourced app suggestions (Engadget)
Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) may see a surge of Windows Phone apps on the horizon, but it’s not waiting for that deluge before it offers further app advice to new Lumia owners. Its new App Social Beta improves on App Highlights by crowdsourcing suggestions. Users create and follow app lists whose popularity determines which titles rise to the top; there’s also a news feed for those who only want to see recommendations from friends and favorite curators.

Nokia Lumia 1020 SIM-free pricing, release date confirmed (Expert Reviews)
The Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) Lumia 1020 will see a UK release on the 5th of September, according to online retailer Expansys. A SIM-free, unlocked Lumia 1020 looks set to cost £599.99, making it Nokia’s most expensive Lumia to date. A Dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) connectivity at least match the top-end price. The 41-megapixel Pureview camera-equipped handset, which was formally revealed last month, has the highest resolution sensor ever found in a smartphone. It’s similar to the one found in Nokia’s previous PureView 808 but with added optical image stabilisation for improved low-light shooting.

Nokia takes another swipe at iPhone camera in latest ad (Memeburn)
Not content with labeling iPhone users as Zombies, Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK)’s taken another swipe at the iPhone camera with its latest Lumia ad campaign. This time the Finnish phone maker has taken aim at Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s “Photos everyday” campaign, launched back in April to remind people that they, um…take a lot of photos with their iPhones. Like the Apple ad, Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK)’s kicks off with the line “every day more photos are taken with the iPhone than any other phone”. At that point however, the footage quickly reverses and that narrator says “but at Nokia we prefer to build for quality, not just quantity.”
