Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) Windows 8.1: A Timeline Update

If you want to take a closer look at the good, bad, and ugly associated with Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows 8.1, you don’t have to look any further than this article. While many people are excited about this upgrade to Windows 8, some are unsure that the company made all the right decisions.

Despite the fact that there is a lot of information out there about Windows 8.1 and what it will bring to the table, there is one big question: when will it become available to manufacturers?

Fortunately, this has been cleared up with Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) announcing that its Windows 8.1 operating system will be made available to manufacturers in August.

Obviously, the sooner the better with the holiday season quickly approaching. This is something Digital Spy recently touched on, adding the following:

“The company’s chief marketing officer Tami Reller revealed at the Worldwide Partner Conference earlier today (July 8) that the update will be available to PC makers by the end of August.”

Reller went on to add that this release should be enough time for manufacturers to add the new operating system in time for the Christmas buying season. This is good news for Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), as it doesn’t want to do anything that could potentially hold back sales during the biggest sales season of the year.

Those who are currently using Windows 8 will receive an automatic update to 8.1, free of cost, later in 2013. At this point, no date has been set so those using the current operating system will have to simply sit back and wait.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is hopeful that the upgrade to Windows 8 is going to do big things for the company. The current operating system did not get many excited, however, a growing number of people feel that the update will be more than enough to solve any problems.

Right now, it is hard to say what this will do for PC manufacturers during the 2013 holiday season. That being said, it is better for Windows 8.1 to be available than for it to be pushed too late, forcing manufacturers to leave out the update.
