Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) Happy With This Dominance

There has been a lot of discussion lately about the Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One, which is the newest game console by the company to be released in November 2013 (it could be in trouble already). While it is important to pay attention to this console and what it will offer, don’t overlook the Xbox 360 and just how well it has performed over the years.

Microsoft Corporation (MSFT)Before we go any further, it is important to note that this console has not slowed down in the least bit, despite the fact that a growing number of people are beginning to become interested in what the newest offering from Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) will bring to the table.

Here is an interesting story from the company’s official blog: Xbox 360 hits 30 consecutive months atop the U.S. console market

When you take a second look at that title, you will begin to see just how well this console has performed over the years. For 30 months, one after the next, the Xbox 360 has sat atop the United States console market. With all the competition in this market, it is hard to believe that nobody has been able to knock this console down a peg.

Here is more from the post:

“Xbox 360 maintained its position as the top console in the U.S. last month, selling more units than any other platform with 140,000 units, according to new data from The NPD Group. June marked the 30th consecutive month Xbox 360 was the best-selling console in the U.S.”

With all this in mind, it is only natural for the conversation to turn to the Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One. If you think this console is going to be held back by the performance of the 360, you are probably wrong. Here is why:

“Xbox One, which will launch this fall, has already seen impressive pre-order sales as consumers have signed up to be the first to receive the new system. In fact, Xbox One pre-sales are trending ahead of Xbox 360 during the same time period.”

Is it possible that the newest release from Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) will actually outperform the Xbox 360? This would be hard to believe, being that the 360 has been the cream of the crop for 30 months in a row.

Things are going to heat up once the Xbox One hits the market in November. We will keep you updated.
